The Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko has said that investigators found the rifle which was shooting at Maidan activists in February 2014. He wrote about this on Thursday, 14th July, on his page in Facebook.

“Found the elements of sniper rifles, which saw the whole country in the hands of a killer under the October Palace, and machines. They will be another proof at the trial,” — said Lutsenko.

In turn the Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Volodymyr Aryev on his page on Facebook said that the weapon was discovered in the pond, one of the parks in Holosiivskyi district of the Ukrainian capital. He added that the machines and the first rifle was disassembled, cut, and then threw it into the pond. “Who took out [a weapon] is known personally. Their names have not been disclosed yet in the interests of the investigation. But when they do manifest, it will be a great and unpleasant surprise,” said Ryan.

Earlier that same day, the head of the UN monitoring mission on human rights Fiona Fraser criticized Kiev for the investigation of the death of people on Maidan. According to her, not a single person has still not paid the penalty of death, and many evidence lost.

The last time the Ukrainian authorities reported the discovery of the weapon from which shot at the activists of the Maidan, on February 5. The head of the security Service (SBU) Vasyl Hrytsak said then that the investigation found fragments of the 23 units of fire rifle that was damaged in a mechanical way — the weapons cut down the ID number. A day later the Prosecutor General’s office of Ukraine (PGO) opened a criminal case against the accused of involvement in the shootings on the Maidan 25 former employees of special forces “Berkut”.

Maidan (Euromaidan) — mass protests in Central Kiev and other cities of Ukraine in winter 2013-2014, which in the country there was a violent change of power. The riots resulted in the flight of President Viktor Yanukovych. During these events killed 106 people.
