In the final match of the super final Euroleague “blue-yellow” took revenge from Portugal for last year’s defeat.
For Ukraine, the way to a debut victory in the Euroleague started with two mini-tournaments – the team of Eugene Varenitsa in six matches scored ten points, finished sixth and qualified to the Superfinal.
In the group stage of the final stage, the Ukrainians have consistently dealt with Belarus (5:4), Spain (7:5) and Germany (4:1). In the second group, Russia beat Italy and Portugal, but in the penalty shootout lost to Switzerland and gave a ticket to the final to Portugal.
In the final Ukrainians have relied on solid defense at the gate. However, Portugal late in the first half, managed to come out ahead is to punch the goalkeeper of Ukraine national team managed to Santos.
After a goalless second half, the Ukrainians in the final 12 minutes managed to open the defense of Portugal. Zborowski and the Bear every few tens of seconds drastically changed the course of the finale.
Ukraine continued to hold out for about ten minutes – the Portuguese fiercely attacked several times and only a miracle saved the “blue-yellow” team from conceding the second goal. Fortunately, Ukrainians have survived and were the winners of the Euroleague, making the campaign such teams as Portugal (5 wins), Spain (5) Russia (4), France, Italy, Switzerland and Germany (all – one).
