The index of business activity /PMI/manufacturing industries of the Russian Federation in March 2016 fell to 48.3 points from 49.3 points in February, according to a study by research firm Markit.
“Russian production is currently in the midst of the crisis, according to the March issue of PMI. In General, the first quarter of 2016 was disappointing for domestic producers, and that the average PMI for this period indicates a decline in the manufacturing sector. If the current sluggish market situation will continue in the next few months, manufacturing companies hope that the Bank of Russia will provide some stimulus to revive the economy”, – commented the results of the research economist at Markit Samuel Agass.
A PMI index value above 50 points indicates growth of business activity, and below this level – at its slow.
