The king of Spain takes the country’s fate into their own hands

Король Испании берет судьбу страны в свои руки

Spain has almost four months of living without a legitimate government. Parliamentary elections were held in December 2015, but won them the people’s party failed to get enough seats in Parliament to form a government. The acting Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy, who is the leader of the NP, failed to reach agreements with other political forces and create a coalition. The Secretary-General of the Spanish socialist workers party, Pedro Sanchez, to whom king Philip VI was offered the post of head of government, also not coped with this task, the deputies did not support his candidacy.

And now, according to the newspaper El Mundo, the monarch decided to break the cycle. He announced the launch of a new round of talks on forming a government. Philip VI will hold consultations with leaders of political parties on April 25-26, Spanish political forces there are still two weeks to come to an agreement. Then either the king will offer a new candidacy for the post of Prime Minister (if by early may it will not get the approval of Parliament, the monarch has the right to dissolve the legislature and call new elections), or just to announce a date for early elections. They can be organized by the end of June.

At present in the Iberian Kingdom has already set a record for the duration of the absence of a permanent government.
