From afar it looks like a giant geyser. However, a powerful jet of water rising up to a height of 312 meters, is the work of human hands.
Namely, the highest in the world continuously working king Fahd fountain. Or fountain Jeddah is the name of the city in Saudi Arabia where it is located.
The idea to build a fountain worthy of the attention of the king, was implemented in 1983. But fountain came the squat – only with a height of 120 meters. And then redid it. Arabian company SETE Technical Services has done a serious work, and as a result, in 1985 there was a fountain that can be seen literally anywhere in the city. The name they gave him in honor of the reigning king Fahd Ibn Abdel Aziz al Saud, or simply the king Fahd fountain.
312 meters high is truly impressive height. Even the symbol of Paris, the famous Eiffel tower, if you remove it the antenna will be lower.
However, to compare the fountain with the tower – it is wrong. A miracle of water works with the help of modern technology and ingenious engineering. Two powerful pump throw per second for 625 gallons of water from the red sea up at a speed of 375 km/h. At one point in the air is more than 18 tons of water. And all this beauty and power operates almost continuously – a fountain shut off for prevention only or in case of strong crosswinds.
