The IMF Board of Directors gave a positive assessment of economic and financial policies of domestic leadership in the difficult conditions of the present time. As reported by the press, the Executive Director of IMF from Russia Alexei Mozhin, this information was confirmed at the meeting of the Council on the results of the latest annual review of the economy, organized on Wednesday by the experts of the Fund in accordance with the requirements of the Charter of the organization.
Moiin said that the discussion lasted about an hour, and was attended by all members of the Board of Directors, which unanimously confirmed the positive assessment of the domestic authorities in the shock of the situation connected with the sudden deterioration in the terms of trade, which is reported to Fund staff. At the same time, many noted that the situation with the Russian economy still remains heavy.
In may, the IMF concluded a review mission in the Russian Federation, after which he published the specified forecast, according to which the Fund anticipates in the current year a decline in GDP of 1.5% and next year growth of 1%. Both figures have been adjusted in the direction of improvement compared to the April estimates.
