Ukrainian politicians have expressed confidence that another delay of a visa-free regime with the European Union demonstrates double standards. Is this true? Is Ukraine is the EU nothing but irritation? The correspondent of the Federal news Agency was apprised of the situation.
According to first Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Iryna Gerashchenko, the statements of the French and German politicians about the possible postponement of the visa-free regime with the “independence” and “independent” remind her of 2008, when Berlin and Paris blocked the granting to Kiev of the action Plan on membership in NATO. Gerashchenko called the decision a huge mistake, which allegedly made possible “military aggression against Georgia in 2008 and against Ukraine in the spring of 2014”. The politician stressed that the EU should make conclusions from their mistakes.
She noted that the Ukrainian authorities have fulfilled all the items of the action Plan on visa liberalization. Herashchenko stressed that Ukraine and its people do not deserve such a dirty trick from the European Union.
The expert of Fund “public diplomacy” and the representative of the expert-analytical club “the Future today” Sergey Prostakov in conversation with the correspondent FAN stressed that European integration and the opposition of Russia — the key elements of propaganda of the “Maidan”, which are the main topics with which the Ukrainian government manipulates citizens and builds its legitimacy. Visa-free regime with the EU served as one of the main immediate objectives for which it was adopted a number of unpopular laws.
“The European Union is considering the prospect of the abolition of visas as a tool of influence on Ukraine, which the bureaucracy in Brussels and the governments of several countries tend to use it to solve several tactical tasks. First, is the cessation of the military conflict in the immediate vicinity of the borders of the European Union, normalization of economic relations with Russia. Secondly, it is a reform that opens the way to the country — the European business to absorb the economy and cheap labor — from Ukraine to the EU. To end the conflict in the Donbas is a necessary condition for the phased implementation of the Minsk agreements. According to the expert, Ukraine, its introduction will give greater than before, freedom of movement, those who had the financial ability to visit Europe. Official tolerance for the employment of Ukrainians, he will not, although it will provide an opportunity for their illegal employment, which from an economic point of view can be seen as an objective the benefit of a visa-free regime for the EU.
“But many opportunities for internal promotion and an excellent excuse for taking unpopular new laws Kiev after the start of its operation will lose. Perhaps then the EU will delay the introduction of a visa-free regime in order to put pressure on Ukraine in order to achieve her maximum of concessions, and the Kiev authorities, officially criticizing this development will not in fact boost the adoption of the necessary measures in Europe.
