The introduction of the new banknotes of 200 and 2000 rubles due to inflation. This was stated by former Chairman of the Central Bank Sergey Dubinin in an interview with “National news service”. He noted that such values are unconventional, but the bill of 100 rubles became too small.
“In a sense, it’s really a reflection of inflation in the sense that now there is little that can be bought for 50 roubles, and nothing can be bought for one ruble,” said Dubinin. He added that by the end of 2016 rates will rise by less than 10 percent.
On the introduction into circulation banknotes of 200 and 2000 rubles, said the Chairman of the Central Bank Elvira Nabiullina earlier on April 12. The design of banknotes has not been determined, it will be selected according to the results of public discussion. It is planned that the new banknotes will go into circulation in 2017.
Nabiullina explained that a significant portion of the payments is in the range between 100 and 500 rubles, and 1000, and 5000 rubles. She added that the introduction of additional banknotes will simplify the calculations of citizens for goods and services.
The last time the Bank of Russia has launched new denominations in 2009, when there were 10-ruble coin. In 2006 was launched the denomination of five thousand rubles, and in 2001 — in one thousand rubles.
