The fate of the latest teenage dystopian movie “Divergent” was called into question. According to the publication Variety, the Studio Lionsgate, who directed three films of this series, plans to reduce the budget of the final tape and release it as a television version. Currently, such a scenario is under discussion, but it is already clear that it could not hold the lead actors – Shailene Woodley, Theo James and Ansel of Algorta.
The final “Divergent” won’t reach movie theaters
The premiere of the final part of the series “Divergent” to be held in summer 2017, however, it is likely that she will not be in cinemas, and broadcast on American TV channels. Lionsgate ponders on whether to invest another $100 million into a project that has not brought the expected profits. The cumulative production budget of the three films, released, amounted to $305 million, while total revenue from rent of $739 million. Apparently, the amount returned to the Studio, was much less than what was inherent in the project initially.

In addition to the television feature film, sources tell Variety that the Studio Lionsagte decided to continue the story of the eponymous television series, which in the final picture the audience should be presented to the new heroes. These plans were implemented, the Studio will have to negotiate with the main cast – Shailene Woodley, Theo James and Anselm Algorta. If they do not agree to the proposed conditions, it is likely that they will be replaced by other actors, which may lead to a loss of interest in the project from the fans.
