The damage from the hurricane “Matthew” in Haiti amounted to almost $2 billion

Hurricane Matthew, which swept through southern Haiti in early October, has caused losses and economic losses to 124 billion Haitian gourde (of 1.89 billion dollars). This was announced by the Haitian authorities on Saturday, October 29.

According to the Ministry of economy and Finance, in such amount of damages from the hurricane was estimated by the experts from the world Bank and the inter-American development Bank. This is about one-fifth of the GDP of Haiti. Losses in the agricultural sector of the country from the disaster are estimated at almost $ 600 million.

Almost the same, according to economists, the country lost due to the fact that more than 175 thousand people as a result of the hurricane left without a roof over your head.
