Sweden and Denmark have quarrelled

Швеция и Дания поссорились

It all started with that account Sweden.se has published a gif image with a hint of the attitude of Swedes to the carpet.

“Next time you meet a Swede, ask him to lay a floor with carpet, and let’s see what happens”.

For example, the British did not share the opinion of the Swedes and generally known for its love of furry sex.

The Danes supported the Swedes, saying that “this is one of the many things that unite us”.

Suddenly, Sweden was very aggressive: “and there are some differences, for example, our lakes more than your whole country.”

This began an exchange of tweets. Denmark quickly retorted, remembering the popular assertion that in Sweden almost everything is forbidden and what is not prohibited.

And rushed hassle. The Scandinavian rivals did not shun anything, the main thing — to hurt a neighbor! Sweden made a proposal to declare the “Greater Sweden”, hinting, perhaps, at the Danish “Great Copenhagen”, which includes skåne (region in southern Sweden, which for centuries was part of Denmark, but then became part of Sweden — approx. ed.).

Denmark, in response, posted a link to an article in the Swedish Aftonbladet, which stated that the Swedes do not mind to give skåne to the Danes.

“But more than half of you said that we can take back skåne.

Sweden made a hint of fat on immigration policy of Denmark.

“Sweden is full of love, and even to the Danes. Especially to those who cannot enter into marriage with their loved ones and flees to Sweden”.

And that argument makes a sharp turn and goes to the moose! The Danes strike: they are willing to take a moose that run from Sweden and going to swim across the Oresund.

“Mutually, and we will be happy to accommodate elk-refugees”.

A sore subject? Instead of answer the call, Sweden boldly attacked the Danish language.

“What-what did you say?”

Denmark quickly intercepts the ball and remembers a newspaper article about how the Swedish police took a drunk Swede for a Dane.

“Come on, you and his do not understand.”

Sweden returns to the moose. After a pause, which, apparently, needed to do some research, Sweden triumphantly refers to an article about the murder of a Swedish moose in Denmark.

“We gave you one moose and you killed him. How will you cope with the 400 thousands?”

Sweden got excited and immediately makes another volley, this time developing a popular theme that the Danish language impossible to understand. Sweden declares that the Danes tongue-tied.

“Dear @denmarkdotdk, you’re rambling. I’ll be sober tomorrow, and you will remain”.

Without hesitation, Denmark recalls that all Danes know how Swedes like their liquor stores.

“Dear @swedense, we all know that tomorrow you will come again to Denmark for alcohol”.

But the topic of moose has not yet exhausted itself. Denmark explains why was killed by the aforementioned Swedish moose.

“He’s just not used to modern infrastructure. But we solemnly swear to tell the five new elks on trains”.

It seems that the stud has reached the goal. Sweden lowers and strikes below the belt, suddenly linking moose with low fertility in Denmark.

“We will be happy to allocate you five moose, given that you have not had one for five thousand years. Maybe that’s the cause of your low birth rates?”

And here Denmark pulls ACE from his sleeve: boom Danish industry of sperm banks! That’s what we did while you were spread the moose!

“As long as you bred moose, we’ve been busy with this — https://broadly.vice.com/en_us/article/women-are-now-pillaging-sperm-banks-for-viking-babies”.

And again: in Denmark there are no mountains, no beaches Sweden, Sweden stole Danish flag, Denmark lost a bunch of wars, against the Swedish chef is proud of the Swedish contribution to international aid.

What was it?

Account Sweden.se leads the Swedish Institute, an institution that, in his own words, “lays the Foundation for long-term relations of Sweden with other countries showing Sweden in the best light. Organizing meetings, sharing and dialogue with the surrounding world, the Swedish Institute contributes to the development and build trust in the country, which simplifies the work of enterprises, universities, cultural institutions, municipalities and all those whose work depends on the attractiveness of the country.”

Yes, you guessed correctly — it was a cunning PR campaign of the two Scandinavian States. Ferenc, Turocy (Ferencz Thuroczy) responsible for the official site of Sweden Sweden.se, commented to Dagens Nyheter:

“I contacted them and asked to fight for us on Twitter. We work on creating the image of the country and are related to foreign policy, so to agree was necessary. The Danish foreign Ministry said Yes. Let’s””.

Because I love all the bickering, especially between neighbors, the fight was a success and attracted the attention of international media. For example, the author of the article in Vox called pseudocompact the most bizarre run-in on Twitter that he had ever seen.
