Soros believes that the EU has ceased to meet the needs of their citizens.
The breakup of the EU is virtually irreversible after Britain’s withdrawal from its membership, said the famous American financier, investor and billionaire George Soros.
On Thursday in the UK held a referendum on the country’s membership in the EU. According to official data, out of the EU voted is 51.9%. Calling to remain in the Union, British Prime Minister David Cameron has decided to apply in October to resign. He leaves the next Prime Minister the right to follow the will of the citizens and to withdraw from the EU.
“Now catastrophic scenario feared by many, materialized, making the collapse of the EU is virtually irreversible,” Soros wrote in his commentary published on the website of the newspaper syndicate Project Syndicate.
The investor also spoke about the possible consequences of detaching Britain from the EU.
“Leaving the EU, Britain may ultimately be more prosperous than other countries, maybe not, but its economy and citizens will suffer losses in the medium or short term”, — said Soros.
