Slovenia Severin elected as UEFA President

Словенец Сеферин избран президентом УЕФАThe European football Union got a new President – the head of the organization elected by the Slovenian Alexander Severin.

The only competitor Seferina at the election of the UEFA President was Dutchman Michael van Praag, the head of the football Federation of Slovenia scored 42 voices of the delegates of UEFA, his opponent received 13 votes. The functions of the President of UEFA Seferina assigned to 2019.

“It’s time to act transparently and to keep up with the times. Some say that 50 years earlier to lead such a large organization, but I strongly disagree. I’ve been in football and have enough experience,” said newly elected President of UEFA.

Severin became the seventh head of the European football – in this position, the 49-year-old functionary was replaced by Michel Platini, who officially announced his resignation because of a suspension from football for the receipt of illegal payments from former FIFA President Joseph Blatter.

Alexander Severin previously worked in a law office since 2005, began active cooperation with the Slovenian puttalam club “Lithium”, and also served on the Executive Committee of the Amateur teams “Ljubljana Loyers” and “Olympia”. Since 2011 holds the position of President of the football Federation of Slovenia, last year re-elected for a term of four years.
