The accusation against Aram Petrosyan, who on the evening of 24 August, took hostages at Citibank in Moscow on Nikitskaya street, can be changed with the article “hostage-taking” on the “Illegal deprivation of freedom”, reports TASS, citing a source close to the investigation.

“According to the law, the malefactor who on their own or at the request of law enforcement officers freed the hostages may be released from criminal liability under article 206 of the Russian criminal code (hostage-taking). Perhaps against Petrosian, given the fact that he surrendered and released all hostages, charge will be retrained on article 127 of the Russian criminal code (Illegal imprisonment)”, — he noted.

In addition, the law enforcement source said that Petrosyan surrendered personally to the head of the Metropolitan police Anatoly Yakunin.

On Wednesday evening a man who called himself an entrepreneur from the suburbs, seized the branch of “Citibank” in Bolshaya Nikitskaya street. Later, the man released all hostages and surrendered to the police. Media reported that the police had previously established the identity of the invader. It’s Aram Petrosian 1961, “the businessman-bankrupt.”
