March 31. /TASS/. The accident rate on road sections with high performance can be higher than on the roads of inferior quality.
This is stated in the materials of Federal road Agency (Rosavtodor) to the conference by the end of 2015 and plans for 2016-2017.
“Improving transportation operational condition of Federal roads often leads to an increase of accidents on selected sites. On a good road drivers often exceed the speed limit, go into the oncoming traffic lane. These violations are among the most frequent causes of road accident”, – stated in the materials.
The Agency said that in 2015 the number of accidents on Federal roads decreased by 11% and 15% decreased the number of fatalities.
Among accidents caused by truckers, almost 70% of accidents happen with trucks whose owners worked without registration of a legal entity.
“Road safety is not a domestic
Earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin criticized the slow work of the government in this area, and called on people not to treat these questions “as to the domestic crimes”, and called for increased responsibility of both participants and organizers of the road.
“It seems that we very easily relate to that most difficult problem, superficially, to some, sorry, everyday life”, – he said. Thus, he stressed, all issues in this sphere is solved, “it just needs determination to do it”.
Over the past decade as a result of road accident were injured about 3 million people, and the death toll amounted to 350 thousand people. According to Putin, these are dreadful statistics.
The President noted that it is still often found such a violation, such as departure on an oncoming traffic strip. “Punishment, up to the deprivation of a driver’s license, not stop them obviously. As a result of irresponsible driving killed innocent people,” he said.
Putin noted that most accidents occur because of drivers. “It is aggression and disrespect for other road users, as a rule, lead to dire accidents. Therefore, I believe a key challenge the culture of driving and strict enforcement of traffic rules, following the rules of competent friendly behaviour on the roads, a sense of responsibility for their lives and the lives of their loved ones, for the safety of other road users,” – said the head of state.
The creation of a culture of driving, according to the President, is a long process and it needs to go hand in hand with increased penalties for traffic violations.
