Reuters reported deliveries of weapons from the ATO zone in the middle East

Weapons from the zone of hostilities in Donbas illegally shipped to the middle East. This is stated in an article published on Monday, July 25, on the website of the Reuters news Agency.

The article is titled “Ukraine after the war becomes a treasure trove for the black market arms trade”. As reported in the publication, in conversations with reporters Ukrainian security forces and militias, told that a significant number of weapons being smuggled out of the conflict zone. In some cases, deliveries are made in an orderly manner.

Also stresses that the Ukrainian irregular formations (probably the article refers to volunteer units) often do not conduct proper accounting of the weapons in their arsenals, and the commanders are not able to get the soldiers to surrender their weapons when they retire.

Most of the weapons from Ukraine sent to countries such as Iraq, Syria and Libya, where there is a need for large amounts of heavy weaponry that attracted traders, illegal immigrants, notes the author.

On 22 July the General Prosecutor’s office announced that the Deputy commander of the 53rd separate infantry brigade of the Armed forces of Ukraine (AFU) was arrested for selling ammunition in the Donbass.

On 6 July the staff of the Supervisory authority found on the basis of a regiment of special function Ukrainian police “Dnepr-1” a large number of illegally exported from the conflict zone in the Donbass weapons, ammunition and explosives.

The armed conflict in the Donbas began in the spring of 2014 after Kiev’s attempts to suppress speech in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions caused by the change of power in the country. Ukrainian authorities called the fighting the anti-terrorist operation (ATO).
