The cost of the Polish army will grow from the current 2% to 3% of GDP.
Poland plans to increase spending on the army to 3% of GDP. This was stated by the Minister of national defence of Poland Anthony Macierewicz.
“For effective self-defence of the Polish territories for necessary expenses in the amount of at least 3% of GDP. And to this we will endeavour,” said the Minister.
He added that the idea about the increase of army expenditure to 3% of GDP belongs to the Chairman of the ruling party law and justice Jaroslaw Kaczynski.
Macarevich, stressed that the current budget for the army, which now stands at 2% of GDP, enough to 115-120 thousand soldiers maximum.
“This, of course, very little. The minimum that we want to achieve in the next year should be about 150 thousand soldiers,” – said the Minister.
