On behalf of the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin opened a criminal case on the fact of causing injuries to a blind child in a rehabilitation center in Surgut. This was reported on the website of the TFR.

Proceedings are initiated on signs of the crime provided by part 1 of article 238 of the criminal code, paragraph “C” of part 2 of article 112 of the criminal code (Rendering services not meeting safety requirements, and intentional infliction of medium-gravity harm to health against a minor”).

The incident in the center of the “Good Magician” took place on 4 may. Initially, the test case organized by the police. After the publicity the issue of the transfer of the material was initiated by authorities of the TFR. It is noted that the MIA intervention of the IC of Russia and appointed it is judicial-medical examination to determine the severity of the harm caused to health of the child.

The investigation intends to examine the role of officials of the centre, qualifications and level of training employees, methods of operation, documentation and history of the work of the centre. Also, the investigators will find out to do similar cases of abuse of children with disabilities at the center.
