Air force base in Colorado said the leak about 560 liters of water, which contained toxic chemicals, reports AP.
American base Peterson reported that the water contained perfluorinated organic compounds (PFC), which when ingested can cause cancer of the prostate or kidney. The representative of local authorities reported that in the drinking water, dangerous chemicals were not included. However the military management has not yet reported the concentration of toxic substances in the water and the level of possible danger.
It is reported that the water passed through the local water treatment plants, but they are not adapted to cleanse it from PFC. The cause of the leak is unknown and is under investigation.
