The first racket of Ukraine Elina Svitolina failed to reach the semi-finals of the Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro.
After an outstanding win over Serena Williams Svitolina had to pass another test of strength. Ukrainian the fourth time met the award-winning Petra Kvitova – champion of Wimbledon for personal meetings was 2:1.
Alas, Svitolina had one of the worst games of his career. It seems that the Ukrainian-day break related to the bad weather in Rio de Janeiro, has not benefited. In the game, Elina did not mention the recent victory over Serena, and Kvitova played almost perfect, never releasing the initiative out of his hands.
In the first set Kvitova made two breaks and never allowed Svitolina to break points. In the second game the Ukrainian won a few balls – natural 0:6.
Kvitova in the quarterfinal match did 18 winnershow – Svitolina responded only two actively won balls and made 16 unforced errors.
