Thursday will start the new academic year in schools and kindergartens. I am sure that in many families it is a reason for excitement, especially in those homes where there are first-graders. This is a really exciting moment.
Our goal is to revolutionize the education system. The basis of this revolution lie two principles: self-improvement and love for Israel. Installation for self-improvement will allow each boy and each girl to realize their potential to the maximum extent. The task of the Ministry of education to make this possible. For this purpose, in particular, it is necessary to introduce a system of remote and targeted training that will allow excellent teachers, the best in Israel and worldwide, to contact with students in a way that was not available to us in the pre-Internet era, but which is possible now. This should be a priority throughout the education system.
The second principle – love for Israel, Zionism, the study of national heritage. First and foremost the study of Tanakh. We must do everything possible for this. On this basis, we live here, we lived here before, came back here and stay here. Of course, all other components of our national heritage is also of considerable importance, but it is important also the legacy that we received due to the fact that the Jewish people is open to the world and contributed to global culture. We are talking about universal education about world history, not only about the history of our nation.
We need educated and educated children in the full sense of the word, with the knowledge and tools necessary for survival in the new world, firmly standing on his feet, leaning on the history of our nation, to secure our future.
“Education” is the crucial word. One who is educated, has computer skills, knowledge of math, English, history, and natural Sciences. We want all the children of Israel, Jews and non-Jews possessed this knowledge. I say Jews and Arabs, but also say: religious and secular. This is the basis of the new world, is the Foundation of the future of Israel as the strongest nation.
I said that education in mind and in heart. What I had in mind: the mind is our cognitive abilities. The heart is the values we must instill in our children. This provides the basis, the strength and growth of our society. Everything we say can be expressed in one sentence, you know, it is a national heritage, TANACH, math, English. To be or not To be? This is very important. So here we are – we will be.
