Nationalists in Zaporizhia attacked an elderly man with a flag of Victory

As reported, the Ukrainian government introduced a law on de-communization of the country. Got banned Soviet symbols, including flags of Victory. However, the nationalists have perceived these measures as a call to violence. In consequence of this, Victory Day in Zaporozhye there was an outrageous incident.

According to media reports, the Ukrainians attacked the elderly man with the flag of Victory. About the real shame of Ukraine said the representative of the national police in the Zaporozhye region Alexander Soloshenko: “One of the old veterans came to the celebration of Victory Day Victory flag, which contains symbols prohibited by the law of Ukraine on de-communization.” In the same moment, a fight broke out, unknown persons tried to grab the flag. In the conflict of law-enforcement bodies intervened and persuaded the veteran to furl the flag. Then, the incident was over.

Previously, Verkhovna Rada Deputy Yuriy Boyko, laying flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, harshly criticized the ban of the symbols of Victory: “Ban the flag of Victory is a shame for Ukraine, – said Boyko. Is a political obscurantism: under this flag, the people went into battle. We will get justice, and he will of the people as a symbol of the fact that they have won the victory”.

The media also recalled that last year in Ukraine adopted on 8 may as a Day of remembrance and reconciliation to honour the victims of the Second world war 1939-1945, and may 9 — Victory Day still remains in Ukraine the festive occasion. Thus, celebrations are held over two days. However, as write mass media, Zaporizhia nationalists actively oppose this sacred holiday and are trying to desecrate the symbols of Victory.
