Downshifting continues to flourish, and many of us are thinking of moving to distant lands… well, at least for a couple of months. We analyzed whether so it is good there where we are not, and built the rating of the cheapest countries to live in.
Indonesia
Yes, of course, the flight is not cheap, and some popular resorts like Bali, low prices are not known. But in Java you can live literally for pennies: lunch will cost less than a dollar, and fresh juices, fruits and vegetables in the markets — and less. While food is the most expensive part of the monthly budget, housing, and renting a bike is (here any way) will be even cheaper.
Cambodia
Loved by travelers whose travel budget is very limited. The prices are affordable not only for food and accommodation (street food in Cambodia cost about a dollar, and decent housing will cost about ten dollars) is also a true Paradise for divers and adventurers.
Thailand
This country from year to year takes the leading place by the number of immigrants from Europe. What can I say, in Thailand there is even a City of freelancers, where people come in the cold season, many remote employees. This popularity is pushing airlines to reduce prices and promotions, so if you catch the moment, in Thailand you can fly for very modest money. Well, life here in General can seem cheap, especially if you go to remote places, where no crowds of tourists.
India
Despite the fact that India seems to be bright and exotic, to many it may not be for everyone. A Paradise for travelers who want to spend the winter in an unusual place, but still cheap. Three meals a day, even in the most luxurious establishments (if they can be called such by common standards) can draw is that for 10 bucks a day, and transport would cost the same… only a month! Many people choose Nepal to retreat and Hiking, and is really the perfect place for privacy, so that you can safely go here.
Vietnam
This country attracts mostly with its nature — it is simply unreal beautiful! And as a bonus to stunning scenery and full relaxation increase the lowest rates in the East: even the most sophisticated Vietnamese meal will cost you less than a dollar.
Guatemala
If you get to this small country in Central America, then you can be sure will come to a complete delight. Experienced travelers have long noticed Guatemala, thanks to its temperate climate, beautiful tropical scenery, and more than affordable prices. The main stumbling block — a long and expensive flights, so to go there just need at least a few months.
Slovenia
Few people are interested in this country, and therefore every tourist here courted with increased attention. And if you will come and stay, you all will be welcomed with open arms (after all, the common Slavic roots make themselves known). The life here is more civilized, affordable and socially protected than in the us, culture and nature is extremely rich, so explore Slovenia can be more than one month.
