In 2013 photographer Adam Hinton from London managed to get inside the restaurant, which was originally built to accommodate 800 prisoners and now is where about 2,500 members of the Mara Salvatrucha.
Mara Salvatrucha, which means “brigade of the Salvadoran army ant” is a well — organized international criminal group; one of the most violent, numerous and rapidly growing street gangs of Central and North America.
She is engaged in many kinds of criminal business, including trade in drugs, arms and persons; robbery, racketeering, contract killings, kidnapping of people for ransom, pimping, car theft, money laundering and fraud.
