The cemetery of the village of Sapinta in Romania is undoubtedly one of the most unusual on the planet – it’s hard to find a more cheerful tombstones than here.
The epitaphs here are wit design, and bright colors. It looks, of course, not like more fun than the famous catacombs of Paris. And, by the way, is also popular with tourists.
All who came here would be interested to know where this tradition has gone? And she went in 1935 when the creation of the appearance of the tombstones came from the wooden master of the Mill Yon Patras. He began to make unusual monuments, decorating them with rhymes, exciting inscriptions, and grotesque images of the dead.
Maybe he was inspired by the idea of the ancient inhabitants of these places, of the tribes of the Getae and Dacians, for whom death was not a tragedy, a joy and anticipation of a new and better life.
The idea proved so successful that today these examples of naive art filled the entire graveyard, which is called the Merry cemetery (Cimitirul Vesel). After the death of Stan (he is still in life care of the headstone) his case was continued.
