Medvedev suggested to young teachers who do not have enough money to go into business

Медведев предложил молодым преподавателям, которым не хватает денег, уходить в бизнес

Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, answering the all-Russian youth educational forum “Territory meanings-on-Klyaz’ma” asked the teacher of the Dagestan University about low wages of young teachers and teachers, encouraged them to try to make “something else”, in addition to the salary, and hinted that there are many places where you can earn faster and better than on the pedagogical field. In the recording of the live broadcast, which was conducted by RT, the answer to this question starts with 50 minutes.

Dagestani teacher told Medvedev that “young teachers and professors receive a salary of 10-15 thousand, and the security forces and police get 50 and above. “I believe our task is no less important and responsible”, – he stressed.

In answering this question, the Prime Minister twice remembered his own experience of a graduate student and teacher of Roman and civil law at the law faculty of Leningrad University. He recalled that in 1988, when he, as a graduate student, began teaching, the gap in wages of police officer and teacher was the same way significant.

“When I graduated from University, was a young teacher, received 90 rubles, and the Lieutenant received 250. It was. And the work of the police, the police also difficult, dangerous, and in Dagestan in particular, so no need to compare it. The question is, that you choose. Me too, when I finished University, I had the alternative: you could go to grad school on a small scholarship at all, and it was possible – I was invited, I had good grades in school – just go to the Prosecutor or to the same interior Ministry system, and there just pay the 250 rubles. It was decent money, who are older, who knows, and this was the first title, then it could be on the veins to increase. But I chose graduate school because I felt that for me it is more important,” – said Medvedev.

“Each person in life chooses what it is important,” stressed the Prime Minister. This is the first. Second. I am absolutely sure that modern energetic teacher able not only to get the wages, which he put on the official schedule, but, well, somehow, so to speak, even to earn something. Anyway, when I was a young lecturer at the faculty, I just have a lot of lectures read, workshops conducted, and in General I was able to make ends meet”.

At the end of Medvedev added that the government is working to increase the salaries of teachers. “And finally, the last: of course, we do not reject the decisions connected with increase of salaries of universities… Another thing is that it is impossible to do simultaneously”. But here the Prime Minister has made a reservation: “there Must be a difference between the wages of the assistant who had just graduated from University and the salary of a Professor who has worked for many years and has his school.” “There should be a gap, which creates competition, the ability to seek,” – said Medvedev.

“But most importantly, I say again, is a personal choice. I get asked that: teachers and teachers. You know, it’s a calling. And if you want to earn money – there are plenty of beautiful places where you can do faster and better. The same business”. “But you didn’t go to business, as I understand it,” – addressed to the Prime Minister posed the question. Dagestani teacher shook his head.

Although the Prime Minister tried to prove by references to personal experience that young teachers can not and should not get a lot of money, he was asked a similar question about young professionals. A participant of the forum Lily, who is studying to be a social worker, told the Prime Minister that many graduates go to work in the specialty because of low salaries. “What do we do now?” – asked the girl.

“Well,” said Medvedev. – And you want to be a social worker? You guys are all adults. If you ask questions of such a plan: after graduation you get paid a little money, what you say to that? Learn to get better, try to earn more after University, never a lot of money do not pay,” – said Dmitry Medvedev and passed to the next question.

This is not the first time the Prime Minister, addressing complaints of a lack of money, trying to prove that for some cases, this is normal. Thought of the head of the government, this applies not only to young professionals and teachers, but also to the pensioners.

In may in Crimea, before you utter the famous phrase “no Money, but you hold on,” Medvedev, answering the reproach in the “wrong indexing of pensions to inhabitants of the Peninsula, stressed that “they (indexation) nowhere”, i.e. they are not on the whole territory of Russia, not only in the Crimea.
