MOSCOW, March 22 — RIA Novosti. The signing of the Association Agreement with the EU would have been a fatal mistake for Ukraine, according to the leader of the public movement “Ukrainian choice” Viktor Medvedchuk. Instead of European standards, the Ukrainians received a total impoverishment, rising unemployment and reduced living standards.
Almost 80% of Ukrainians believe that the authorities stick to the wrong course, said Medvedchuk, referring to data of the survey conducted in February — March 2016, Kiev international Institute of sociology
“Euromaidan romantic haze has cleared, came the harsh everyday life of European integration reforms, and every Ukrainian felt the “benefits” of the reforms from Yatsenyuk,” he writes.
By signing the Agreement on free trade zone with the EU, Ukraine has lost export revenues and is trying to fill the budget at the expense of external borrowing and increasing the tax burden, the politician says.
In particular, he cites figures according to which in 2015, Ukraine’s GDP has fallen by more than 10%, while inflation reached 43.3%, and updating the twenty-year record
“The idea of a free trade Zone with the EU turned out to be another soap bubble,” he concludes.
