Matvienko urged to develop a distinctive Russian gastronomy in the village

Матвиенко призвала развивать самобытную русскую гастрономию на селе

The speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko at the meeting with heads of rural settlements were advised to actively attract tourists distinctive traditions and holidays. On Monday, may 23, according to TASS.

According to the Chairman of the upper house of Parliament, the rural tourism potential is huge, but now its share is only two percent of the total tourism industry.

The development direction, according to the Senator, can contribute to the organization of traditional events, such as the inter-regional festival of Cossack culture” and “pumpkin Day Adyghe”, which is carried out in Adygea, as well as gastronomic festivals “Royal ear” and “Feast of fungus” in the Tomsk region.

In addition, the speaker of the Federation Council expressed its concern that “poverty is localized primarily in rural areas, and life expectancy of Russians living in the village are lower than in the city.

“Sometimes people see the only way to improve life — to leave the city. And the outflow of residents from the villages continues, but Russia has always been a strong country”, — said Chairman of the Federation Council. She assured that the improvement of the lives of the rural population is the most important task of the state.

In February of this year during a working trip to Kurgan oblast, Matvienko told about the unique bear lake that possesses curative properties and is, in her words, the analogue of the Dead sea. Chairman of the Federation Council pointed to the fact that few people know about this monument of nature and advised regional authorities to consider how to “package” the project to become attractive for potential tourists.
