15-27 September 1959, the first in the history of Soviet-American relations official visit of the head of the Communist party and head of the Soviet government of Nikita Khrushchev in the United States.
The visit was covered by 2.5 thousand accredited by the US Department of state journalists and photographers (including 41 Soviet), and, according to the American magazine “life”, the total number of journalists was not less than 5 thousand people, which at the time was an absolute record.
