Kerry: US does not need a cyber arms race with Russia

The US is not interested in confrontation with Russia in cyberspace, said Secretary of state John Kerry on Tuesday published an interview with the network edition of Wired.

“We discussed it (with the Russians), and the danger of this cannot be underestimated. We don’t want to go back on the same road. For 50 years we have been engaged in arms control. We participated in the arms race and create more and more nuclear weapons. And in a race in cyberspace — it’s the last thing we need,” admitted Kerry.

According to him, “we need to ensure that all of us in control of the situation and act responsibly”.

The Secretary of state noted that “this may require changes in some of the agreements that we have reached.”

Kerry also confirmed that President Barack Obama will decide when and how to take action against Russia because of alleged related to the hackers who carried out cyber attacks against American companies. “The decision was already made a long time ago. And now the answer will come this way and at this time of who will choose the President, and it may be invisible to you,” he said.
