Tests of the latest compact sniper rifle SVK initiated by concern “Kalashnikov”. The rifle will be used by the Russian special forces in two ways: under the domestic and NATO cartridges, reports “Interfax” with reference to press center of the concern.
“Currently, the prototype rifles are factory tested. In the future, the rifle will have to be replaced in the model lineup SVD”, — the press service of the holding.
It is noted that the development of the rifle was inspired by the wishes of snipers of special units. The weapon is made in two versions: a domestic cartridge 7,62x54r mm and under NATO cartridge 7,62×51 mm.
Samples rifles ICS will be presented at the forum “Army-2016”, which will be held from 6 to 11 September.
In April 2016, the newspaper “Izvestia” reported that in the list of promising models of small arms concern “Kalashnikov”, which is supposed to show on the forum “Army-2016”, was a previously unknown model of “assault rifle” under the name of ICS.
Under the designation ICS in the history of small arms previously appeared a number of samples. So called rifle, developed by Mikhail Kalashnikov in 1959, chambered for 7,62x54r mm. She lost in the 1963 contest, in which the main sniper rifle of the army has become the SVD. In addition, the name of SVK wore experienced rifle chambered 6×49 mm created at Izhmash in the early 1980-ies.
