Kadyrov: the Chechen people sure made the right choice to be with Russia

Кадыров: чеченский народ уверен в правильности выбора быть с Россией

The head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov said that the Chechen people during the referendum in 2003 independently decided to be together with Russia, and does not doubt the correctness of his choice.

During the “straight line” the Russians were interested in the attitude of Russian President Vladimir Putin to some of the heads of the regions, both former and current. Answering the question about the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov, the President emphasized his conviction that Chechnya should remain with Russia.

“Vladimir Vladimirovich (Putin) was absolutely right when he says that no one forced, coerced, Akhmat-Hajji (Kadyrov) to choose such a path, he came to the conclusion that Chechnya should be with the Russian people and Russia. This is indeed consistent with the interests of the Chechen people,” Kadyrov wrote in his Instagram.

The Chechen leader reminded that in the referendum the people supported the course of Akhmat-Hadji Kadyrov and the Russian President, voted for unity with Russia.

“I can assure you that the independent survey will always show the confidence of the Chechen people in the rightness of the choice, show that our people are solidly behind Russian President Vladimir Putin, his foreign and domestic policy”, — said the head of Chechnya.

In 2003, he held a referendum, which was adopted first in the history of modern Chechnya’s Constitution, which recognized the development of the region within the Russian Federation. About 96% of voters supported the proposed Constitution, whose author was the President Akhmat-Hadji Kadyrov. After the adoption of the Constitution, Kadyrov has signed a decree declaring March 23, the Day of the Constitution. In Chechnya it is a public holiday.
