“Avatar 2” was supposed to come out in 2014, then its premiere was postponed to 2015, and is currently in the timetable that the first screening should take place in December 2018. In an interview with Variety, James Cameron confirmed his readiness to postpone the premiere of the sequel, if necessary. However, the Director noted that currently the project team is the goal – to finish “Avatar 2” in 2018.

In an interview with Vulture, which Cameron gave this week, he explained in detail how and why you undertook such a complex task – to shoot four films together:For me this is the real test. The decision to remove four films at once took not from the ceiling, it was quite consciously. On the other hand, we can carry out such a parallel: people go to College for several years, and then they try to find a job, and I hope that on this job they hold, if they liked it. As a filmmaker, I have to go from project to project, and I am very happy because to be able to continue to work on the Avatar world, at least in the next seven years. I’m glad I have the opportunity to delve deeper into that world and live in it for some time”.

But that’s not all James Cameron plans to maximally broaden the universe of Pandora. Rebounding from movies, you can create anything: from a variety of products with symbols of “Avatar” to books that will tell the untold stories of this amazing world. It is unlikely anyone will deal with the Director himself, but probably if such products will appear only after approval.

In the same interview with Vulture, Cameron confirmed that his plans include the expansion of the universe “Avatar” by all available means:We plan to use all means available to us to tell the audience the story. It is obvious that films are acting as the cornerstone, but we also plan to produce comics, novels and more. We will use any of the options that can help viewers more deeply immersed in the world of Pandora. One could, for example, to produce an animated series, but it’s not particularly interesting to me because I want to keep the current level of quality. All the heroes of our history are created using computer graphics, and it is not cheap. You can’t just take and make up the actors in blue color and then put them in a room. It works for a theatrical performance, but not for television. Actors from the Cirque du Soleil has developed its own makeup, which, admittedly, looks original. But to use such to create a series – it is impossible. And the technology that we have created for films that do not fit in the television budgets”.
