Italian court fined nine Ukrainian sailors for drug smuggling

A court in Italy decided to conditionally punish and fine the 9 citizens of Ukraine detained on suspicion in transportation of the contraband.

It is reported by the Department of consular service of the MFA of Ukraine in Facebook.

“The results of the meeting of the court in Palermo (Italy) in the case of nine citizens of Ukraine – crew members of the vessel Munzur was accepted the decision on appointment of punishment in the form of conditional imprisonment and the award of a penalty”, – is spoken in the message.

It is noted that the staff of the Consulate and the Embassy of Ukraine in Italy contributed to temporary accommodation released from custody seafarers and their subsequent sending home.

Earlier, police Italy, Spain, Greece and Turkey during the RAID was detained on 9 Ukrainian and one Georgian during transport on the vessel Munzur smuggling – 500 packages 13 tons of hashish.

The ship Munzur was under the Panamanian flag.
