Isinbayeva and Shubenkova refused in sports justice

Исинбаевой и Шубенкову отказали в спортивном правосудии

Claims Russian athletes Elena Isinbaeva and Sergey Shubenkov to the court of arbitration for Sport (CAS) rejected. The Swiss Federal Supreme court made this decision due to the fact that the arguments of our athletes have proved unconvincing, and the lawsuits were filed late.

According to representatives of the Swiss court, Isinbayeva and Shubenkov had to resist the development of the situation from the beginning, and they appealed to the Tribunal about two weeks after the announcement of the CAS decision.

The Tribunal took into account that the decision of 24 July 2016 the Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) established the conditions under which the Russian athletes will be able to participate in the Olympics.

“August 4, 2016 examination Committee IOC released the final list of eligible Russian athletes (so further changes are not possible), and the applicants knew that the final list will be published prior to August 5, — TASS quoted the decision of the judiciary. In any case the applicants have not proved convincing enough that he performed one of the established IOC conditions for admission”.
