Latvia conducted an investigation, which it asked the Ukrainian authorities in 2014, in their favor. Namely: Yarema Prosecutor General of Ukraine in 2014 announced that political “paperednik” and is a former Vice-Premier Sergey Arbuzov, entrepreneur and politician Yury Ivanyushchenko, and Kharkiv businessman Serhiy Kurchenko – have escaped from Ukraine, accumulated on the accounts of Latvian banks millions of dollars stolen from the Ukrainian budget. After the statement of the Ukrainian Prosecutor General on the accounts of Latvian banks was arrested 49.3 million dollars Sergey Arbuzov, USD 32 million and CHF 72 million Ivanyushchenko.
None of the above Ukrainian fugitive is not listed as suspects in this investigation. In the criminal process leading Latvian state police there are no suspects at all. The police of Latvia in the process of investigation tried to establish the origin of these amounts and not the kidnappers. However, their queries, Ukrainian officials have not provided any information.
“Unfortunately, we from Ukraine in the answer have not received information that the money was stolen from the state and should be returned to Ukraine”, — said attorney General Eric Kallmeyer.
As a result, not traditionally agile Latvians, the verdicts of the court ziemeļu district of Riga, already admitted illegally acquired 50 million euros and withdrew the money in favour of the Latvian Treasury.
