India ratified the Paris climate agreement

About it reports DW. “India conveyed to the Depositary of the UN the instrument of ratification of the Paris agreement”, – stated in the message of the United Nations.

It is noted that India ranks third in the world in greenhouse gas emissions, being responsible for about 4.5% of the emissions. The country played an important role during the negotiations at the climate summit in Paris 2015, but postponed the ratification of the agreement to examine its impact on economic development.

For the global application of the provisions of the Paris agreement needs ratification by 55 countries responsible for at least 55% of global emissions of harmful gases. Today acceded to the agreement 62 countries, which are generally responsible for 52,5% of the emissions.
