In “Luzhniki” hosted the first race which opened the series of the Moscow marathon in 2016. Five kilometres of the distance ran over five thousand sports fans — a record number of participants for the first competition of the season.
All starters were only able to finish about half an hour. The atmosphere of the sports festival was supported by the fans. They helped the participants throughout the track, held on Novokuzneckogo travel and Luzhnetskaya embankment.
Among women the first was Tamara Semenova, which is not the first year participates in the marathon. Five kilometers she overcame in 16 minutes, 27 seconds. After Olga finished Taratynova with the result of 16:37. Third place was taken by Yulia Kryukova with the result of 16 minutes, 54 seconds. The men’s race was won by Iskander Yadgarov, who ran the distance in 14 minutes, 44 seconds. Second place went to Vyacheslav Sokolov — 15 minutes one second, and the third crossed the finish line the Sergei Conacin — 15 minutes four seconds.
The main start of the season this year is scheduled for September 25. It is planned that in it will take part 30 thousand athletes from all over Russia and from other countries. They will run two distance — 42.2 km and 10 km. Before it will be held in Moscow Night, Colorful and Musical marathons.
