In Poland gas terminal was named in honor of the President

В Польше газовый терминал назвали в честь президентаPoland took an important step on a blank to its energy independence.

On Saturday June 18, the liquefied natural gas terminal in świnoujście in the North-West of Poland named President Lech Kaczynski. The terminal can handle 5 billion cubic meters of gas per year, a third volume, which requires Poland.

Deputy head of the Polish oil and gas company (PGNiG) Janusz Kowalski noticed that gazoport will improve the independence of Poland in the field of energy: “Poland for the first time in its history, opened for raw materials other than from the East. We are talking about natural gas. This is a historic moment and the first step to the establishment in Poland but also in Central and Eastern Europe, in fact, a competitive market of gas.”

However, the head of PGNiG Piotr Wozniak believes that Poland is still threatened by a gas crisis like in 2006 and 2009. In his opinion, most made in trade, and infrastructure need another investment.

State Secretary Piotr Naimski, responsible for energy issues, said that the opening of gazoport is the first step towards energy independence of Poland. Real independence would bring the construction of the gas pipeline on which gas will be transported to Poland from the Norwegian shelf through Denmark, under the Baltic sea. It is the prospect of several years – said Piotr Naimski.

This does not prevent the construction of the LNG terminal in świnoujście, it will depend on the needs of Poland
