Ukrainian Diaspora in Paris conducts a demonstration for the release of illegally detained in Moscow, the correspondent of UKRINFORM in France Roman Sushchenko.
In the event, which takes place on the Central square, the Invalides, attended by about a hundred people. Activists holding Ukrainian symbols, portraits of the journalist and posters reading “Putin is to blame for the war.”
As reported by the correspondent of UKRINFORM in France Roman Sushchenko was arrested on 30 September in Moscow, where he was on a private visit. He was accused of espionage, saying that he is an employee of the Main intelligence Directorate of the defense Ministry of Ukraine. In the Gur has denied allegations FSB, noting that this is not true.
After a closed hearing on 1 October the court made the decision on its arrest for two months – until November 30. Contrary to international norms and bilateral agreements between Ukraine and Russia, Sushchenko was denied the basic right to see a lawyer and the Ukrainian Consul. On 7 October, the result in Russia pushed the Ukrainian journalist formally charged with spying.
Roman Sushchenko is working in the Ukrainian national information Agency “UKRINFORM” in 2002, as a correspondent in France since 2010.
