Sunday, October 30, in the Republic of Moldova are the next, presidential elections.

“According to the State register of voters, the total number of citizens entitled to vote amounts to 3.2 million nationals (including citizens residing on the left Bank of the Dniester river – the Transnistrian region, uncontrolled by the constitutional authorities of Moldova). For the organization of the voting process opened 2081 polling station, including 100 polling stations outside the country”, – have informed in the Central election Commission.

It is also known that most of the polling stations outside of Moldova to work in Italy (25), Romania (11) Russian Federation (8), USA (7), France (6), Portugal and Spain (4 sites).

Polling stations opened at 7.00 am local time and the voting will end at 21.00.

The voting will be watched by more than three thousand observers, including 562 foreign observer. Presidential elections of Moldova will cover 160 foreign journalists.

Throughout the day, every three hours, the Central election Commission will provide updated data on the voter turnout, as well as information about committed in the course of voting irregularities.

Preliminary results on the turnout in the elections will be presented at 22.00, and the first preliminary results of voting, the CEC will publish the morning of Monday, October 31. In the night from Sunday to Monday on the website of the Central election Commission will be constantly updated with data, how about the turnout and the voting results. For the election to be valid, the turnout must be no less than 1/3 of voters included in the State register of voters.

For the post of President of Moldova claim 9 candidates – 6 representatives of political parties and 3 independent candidates.

If in the first round none of the candidates will fail to win more than 50% of the votes, two weeks later, on November 13, will host the second round of elections.

We will remind, the first after the 1996 presidential elections. Since 2001, after the amendment of the Constitution, the President was elected by Parliament, but in the spring of 2016 the constitutional court of Moldova issued a verdict on returning to the procedure of the popular vote.
