The demonstrators oppose the trade and economic cooperation with Canada and the United States.
In Germany September 17, held a demonstration against the already negotiated but not yet entered force of the agreement on trade-economic cooperation between the EU and Canada (CETA). Also the protest was against the upcoming Transatlantic trade and investment partnership (TTIP) between the EU and the USA.
Data organizers and the police about the number of participants are very different. The organizers say that the whole country shares came to about 320 thousand people. The only city where the valuation of the organizers and the police are the same, it was Berlin. There are about 70 thousand protesters.
The organizer of the shares under the slogan “Stop TTIP and CETA! For a fair world trade!” is the Union 30 organizations. Among them, the trade Union, environmental and religious associations, non-governmental network organization Attac and Campact, the Berlin-based Association Der Deutsche Kulturrat e.V., Left-wing party “Union-90″/”green”.
According to their position of free trade agreements with Canada and the United States is fraught with the deterioration of environmental and social standards.
