In Dresden, unknown persons set fire to police cars

Three police cars were set on fire in Dresden in the night of Sunday, 2 October. Cars parked in the Parking lot, burned beyond recovery. The damage amounted to tens of thousands of euros, said on Sunday the local police.

In addition, on the walls of houses near the scene of the fire appeared graffiti “the Whole Dresden hates the police.” Suspect – a 20-year-old local resident.

Security officials believe that the incidents are linked. The investigation stems from political motivations arson and sees their relationship with the actions of the police on protection of a public order on the eve of the Day of German unity.

On Saturday, the city began the festivities on the occasion of the Day of German unity, which will last until October 3, inclusive. They are held in conditions of high security.

The streets of Dresden will patrol 2.6 thousand police officers in uniform and in civilian clothes. This is due to two incidents on the eve of the celebrations.
