The new law eliminated criminal penalties for people who carry out euthanasia.
The country’s Supreme court found the ban on assisted suicide unconstitutional in February 2015.
Thus, Canada became one of the few countries in the world where euthanasia is permitted.
While critics of the new law call it is too strict.

Currently, euthanasia is permitted only in a few countries (Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland), as well as in some States of the USA.
