In Barcelona police arrested five suspected members of the infamous gang of jewelry robbers “Pink Panther”.
Reported by the AP. “Spanish police in Barcelona announced the arrest of five alleged members of the Pink Panthers, a notorious gang of thieves precious stone”, – stated in the message.
All five of them have Serbian origin. The police caught them on Friday when thieves tried to escape after the robbery of a jeweller in the upscale shopping street in Barcelona. How to tell the cops before being caught, the thieves in less than a minute managed to steal jewelry worth 400 thousand euros. According to the newspaper, the arrests were made on a tip from German police, who informed the Spanish colleagues that one of the thieves had left Belgrade and went to Barcelona.
As you know, the gang got its name after one of the robberies in London in 2003 when a thief hid a diamond in a jar of cosmetic cream, as happened in one scene of the movie “the Pink Panther (1963)”.
Interpol estimates that during armed robberies between 1999 and 2015, the gang has made armed raids 380 and stole jewelry worth over 334 million euros
