Here in Russia, starting in 2014, restrictions on government purchases of imports. They relate to the defense industry, medical devices, software, and mechanical engineering. During this time the Russian Federation has managed to achieve tremendous success in import substitution and to contribute to the development of each of these industries.
On the shelves started appearing in home medicines. The media are actively discussing the Russian cars, phones domestic production and more.
All this is possible and would not be, if our government, together with Russian President had not imposed sanctions against the European Union, the United States and several other countries.
However, often the Russians, the question arises of whether all our government is doing in order to achieve development of its own production? And then, as I would like to mention that the government works only on productivity, without fanaticism, based on the primary goal for Russia.
That is why Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev instructed to coordinate the list of imported goods, government purchases which may be limited. This instruction he gave to the economic development Ministry, the Ministry of industry and trade and Federal Antimonopoly service.
I would like to note that the Ministry supports the expansion of restrictions, but at the same time the economic development Ministry has proposed gradually to abandon the restrictions of public procurement.
In any case, the ministries will have two months to discuss the issue and come to a common denominator, which, I hope, even more will raise the growth of import substitution in the Russian Federation.
