HANGING COFFINS OF SAGADA, PHILIPPINES
Residents of the mountainous province of Sagada believe that the higher above the earth buried the dead body, the closer the soul is to heaven. So that’s already 2,5 thousand years the locals bury their loved ones in coffins, with ropes attached to the limestone rocks. Looks like this show is very, very creepy. Especially when near coffin rock tied to another chair, on which sat the deceased shortly before his death.
THE CATACOMBS OF PARIS, FRANCE
These underground tunnels were built during the mining of limestone for the construction of temples and palaces Paris. HILL OF CROSSES, LITHUANIA
In fact, it’s not terrible, and even a very nice place, but its terrifying appearance is attributed to an ancient legend. The legend says that once on the mountain there was a temple, which fell to the ground. One man, who was seriously ill beloved daughter, decided to put the cross for the salvation of their child in this Holy place. So he did, and the daughter later entirely recovered. Thus, the locals decided that the establishment of any on the mountain of the cross (and here is their huge variety – all different shapes and sizes) will lead to a positive outcome of a difficult situation, and turned the hill into what you see now.
AKTUN CAVE OF THE CRYSTAL MUKNAL, BELIZE
This place is a monument of the Mayan culture. In the cave were found skeletons, pottery and stone tools. The most famous of skeletons was called crystal girl. This is the remains of the girl, brought in a ritual sacrifice. For a long time they were covered with layers of natural and sparkled like a crystal, when they were found.
