“The overall effect for the trade balance from a further deterioration of trade relations with Russia were estimated at minus $ 1.1 billion. This caused the lion’s share of the expected current account deficit at 2.5 billion dollars. Most of these effects was realized in the beginning of the year. Only in January of these reasons, according to our estimates, Ukraine has missed the export to the CIS countries and Russia about 200 million dollars”, — says the head of the national Bank.
According to her, Ukraine hoped to reorient the markets to other countries, but turned out to be. the process is long.
Recall that last year, Russia has restricted Ukrainian exports, the agreement on free trade zone between the two countries was terminated. Also in early January, Russia banned the transit of Ukrainian goods through its territory. At the same time, Kiev has lost another 1.8 billion dollars.
