French intelligence services are looking for talent among schoolchildren

Французские спецслужбы ищут таланты среди школьников

The Paris attacks and the overall security situation in Europe and worldwide has demonstrated that the French intelligence services are not as good as they would like. In recent years, the staff of the Main Directorate of external security of France was increased, but this clearly was not enough. And the secret service began to search for new talents among students.

According to the newspaper Le Figaro, in France the competition”, Alkindi” conducted among high school students (high school students) on deciphering codes. Its name comes from the name of the Arab mathematician Abu Yusuf Yaqub Ibn Ishaq al-Kindi, the author of the work “On deciphering cryptographic messages”.

The competition for the cryptanalysis and cryptomemetic started soon after the events in Paris in November last year, when a series of terrorist attacks killed 130 people. It was conducted online and took place in several stages. The competition was attended by about 17 thousand people, but in the ending could pass only 38 of them. They were asked to solve invented by analysts control code, those who have done it all faster, and become winners.

Awards – laptops, tablets, smartphones and books in cryptology – they handed the head of the secret services, Bernard Bagole. It is possible that in the future they will be invited to work in General Directorate of external security of France. Because of their potential boss has managed to get them straight.
