France rejected the Treaty on free trade zone with the United States
French President Francois Hollande said that Paris is currently rejects the agreement on the establishment of the Transatlantic free trade area (TTIP) between the US and the EU, reports TASS.
“At this stage of the talks, France says “no,” Hollande said, commenting on the progress of negotiations.
Shortly before that, the French Minister for foreign trade Matthias Fekl said that Paris may terminate negotiations with the US on TTIP, because Washington is “unacceptable” position.
“Europe offers a lot, but gets very little in return. And this is unacceptable… Paris insists that the negotiations were suspended,” the official said.
FeCl explained that France seeks to protect its small and medium business and provide it access to the U.S. market. Only when this condition is met, negotiations can be continued.
2 may, Greenpeace has published the documents about the negotiations on TTIP, which showed that the United States in the negotiations with the European Union resorted to threats – in particular, Washington has hinted at the possibility to complicate the export of cars from the EU if Brussels did not reduce the rate of export of agricultural products from the United States.
In April Ruposters reported that the obstacles to ratification of the agreement on Transatlantic trade partnership could arise in the Netherlands – in the country, an initiative group of voters to collect signatures for holding the referendum.
